Education Planning

Just as there is a wide range of career paths and options, education paths are equally as varied. There is growth in the variety and types of further education options and which paths are best depends on your ultimate interests and future goals.

Within your undergraduate degree there are combinations of majors and minors and options for second degrees.  After your degree, there are options for in depth study at a graduate level (research or non-research focused), career focused post-diploma programs at colleges, certificates through continuing education departments of universities and professionally focused programs such as teachers college or medical school.

We encourage you to explore your education paths in tandem with your overall future goals and career aspirations.

The process of preparing or applying for further education can vary depending on the type of further education you are seeking.  The following are general guidelines for consideration:.

• Graduate level programs - academic standing (cumulative or last 2 years),  pre-requisite courses/program, references from professors, research interests
• Professional schools - your academic standing, pre-requisite courses, specific entrance exam marks (ie. MCATS, GMAT etc), relevant experiences,  references, personal statements
• Post-diploma programs and certificates– generally a more straight forward application process however some do require a resume or portfolio.
