VolunteerVolunteers are essential to our society. Volunteers help deliver valuable services to those in need, help build community and help address many important social issues. As a McMaster Student and member of the Hamilton community, there are many fantastic volunteer opportunities you can take part in! Volunteering will help you:
There are several ways that you can volunteer during your time at McMaster:
Student Success Leader (SSL) ProgramWe offer a number of exciting student leadership development opportunities within the various divisions of Student Affairs. The SSL Program is a student-centred imitative in which possible responsibilities could include event planning, public advocacy, and peer-to-peer guidance just to name a few. As a Student Success Leader, you will have the chance to work alongside knowledgeable professional staff and, in doing so, develop important skills in leadership, communication and collaboration. Want to learn more about each of the Student Success Leader positions? Check out their profiles in the Leadership section of the site.
Mac Ambassador ProgramThe Mac Ambassador Volunteer Program offers a chance for you to gain meaningful volunteer experience on campus through participation in events and programs organized by the Student Success Centre. Your role as a Mac Ambassador will allow you to become familiar with the services and programs offered through our centre that could help in the personal and career development of you and your peers. Through your participation in the program, you will have the opportunity to meet new students, staff, and employers, learn about event planning and logistical coordination, and improve your leadership and teamwork skills. Volunteerism through the Mac Ambassador program is a 1 year commitment; however, your participation in campus events is determined by you – meaning that the program is flexible around your schedule. We are currently recruiting Mac Ambassadors for the 2012-2013 academic year. Complete the application and we will be in touch with you regarding upcoming orientation and training sessions.
