Course-Based Learning

In the summer of 2010 McMaster’s Student Success Centre distributed a web survey asking undergraduate instructors at McMaster to identify their familiarity with academic service-learning. 

The Student Success Centre understands that many instructors are already engaging in service-learning; therefore, the objective of this study was to conduct an environmental scan and needs assessment of undergraduate service-learning courses offered at McMaster.  Our office wanted to gain an understanding of instructors who currently use service-learning, instructors who have used this approach in the past, those who are interested in using service-learning in the future and those who are not interested or for whom service-learning is not applicable. The survey responses were used to inform our office of the supports instructors identified in order to expand their knowledge and use of service-learning.
